About Quorum

Last updated July 2026

Quorum is a governance platform for schools' governing boards - built by WhatLabs, an education-data company.

Who WhatLabs is

WhatLabs builds products on top of the same idea: that most of what a school, trust or governing board needs to know is already sitting in a public record somewhere, uncollected. Quorum is the newest of a family of products that each apply that idea to a different job.

What Quorum is

Quorum runs a governing board - papers, a noticeboard, meetings and attendance, kept and searchable in one place - and, for academy and trust boards, it reasons over data most boards have never had assembled in one view: director tenure and turnover from Companies House, Ofsted grades and pupil numbers from GIAS and Ofsted, alongside WhatSchool's own record of the school or trust. Existing tools tend to do one half of this job - store papers, or sell guidance. Quorum does both.

The public-record philosophy

Every board we compute over is built from sources that are already public - Companies House, GIAS, Ofsted, and WhatSchool's own global school dataset. That means a school's board and estate can be assembled the moment they register, not typed in by hand over weeks. It also means we are careful about the difference between data we compile about you because it is already public, which is governed by our privacy notice, and data your board creates privately inside its own workspace, which is governed by our data processing summary, where WhatLabs is your processor, not the controller.

Where Quorum is today

Live now: board and estate intelligence compiled from the public record for academy and trust boards, and the workspace's core building blocks - papers, noticeboard, meetings. Still being built, targeted for August 2026: self-service registration and billing, live MIS dashboards (Wonde and Groupcall), and an AI assistant over your board's own data. We would rather say that plainly than describe the finished product as if it already exists.
